Artificial turf, or artificial grass, has become more and more popular with the passing of each year. In fact, since it was introduced, way back in the '60s, fake grass has enjoyed tremendous success. More often than not, this type of grass was found on sports fields, however with the passage of time, its value and practicality has been gaining a wider following. Now artificial lawn it is to be found in all sorts of applications, i.e. It is used for residential, recreational, and commercial areas.

You do not need to be a genius to figure out that there are some obvious benefits to choosing a fake lawn over a real one. First of all, the grass will not die off and turn brown, and it requires far less work to maintain your lawn, so that it will look gorgeous all year round. In short, you do not need a lot of time, and you do not have to have the proverbial green thumb in order to have a lush, beautiful looking lawn. Of course, there are both advantages and disadvantages to having an artificial lawn, just as there are if you choose to have real grass. Let us take a look at some of the pros and cons of each type of lawn:

In Favor Of Fake Grass

Many people choose to have an artificial lawn precisely because it saves them both time and money. When you have a fake lawn you do not have to worry about mowing it, watering it, and fertilizing it. Furthermore, fake lawns do not need any products to help maintain them either, which means that you save money in the long term. But it is not just because fake lawns cost less over time, and require none of the hard work and effort that a real one does. These artificial lawns are also great for those that are environmentally conscious. For one thing, you do not need to use any harmful chemicals, like pesticides, for example. The drainage system is excellent, and it dries very quickly as well. That means that it can be used and enjoyed much sooner than would be the case if the grass were real and wet. When used in stadiums and for sports fields, artificial turf is ideal, because the players are less likely to get injured due to the fact that the surface is even and consistent all over. All in all, these are good reasons to choose artificial grass.

In Favor Of The Real Thing

On the opposite side of the fence are those that choose natural grass instead, because installing it is usually considerably cheaper than installing artificial grass. In fact, installing artificial grass can be a rather expensive undertaking. Also, although real grass requires more work to keep it looking good, a fake lawn needs to be maintained as well. For instance, there might be repairs that are necessary. Furthermore, after being used, the fake lawn sometimes has to be watered down and/or swept or raked in order to clean it and remove debris. When it comes to the use of artificial grass on sports fields, some players complain about how hot it can get if the weather is warm. If the turf they are playing on is too warm, the players' game is going to be affected.
